A new free sample template is available in the template gallery without shopping carts. It’s called Basic White with Lightbox Display.
This tutorial demonstrates how easy it is to install any of the Generate X web photo gallery templates into Photoshop/Bridge and Elements. It can also be found in better quality at the top of the installation page. This tutorial takes place on a Mac, but is the same method for installing on a Windows PC. Only the file path for the folder where the template is installed is slightly different, but that file path is given as well.
A bright new look for the GX site, and the template installation details have been adjusted to make these templates even easier to install and customize. The instructions on how to customize the shopping cart are now available to download directly from the site separate from purchase. You can find this pdf file on the template installation page.
Due to popular request, all templates have had the following updates:
-An invisible right click disable function has been added to thumbnail pages. The entire web photo gallery template is now disabled from right click use.
-When user returns to thumbnails from large image viewing page, they are now returned to the top of the thumbnail page where gallery title and contact information is found, rather than the actual thumbnail image.
Browse through the catalog pages for links to view these changes in action.
If you have previously purchased a Generate X template and would like to have these updated features, please send your name, purchase date, and invoice ID number to support, and we will send you the updated template.
Thank you for you patience while these updates were taking place
It is possible to run the Web Photo Gallery templates from either Photoshop or Bridge in the new CS4 version. That’s great news because when building galleries through Bridge, you can select individual files, select by label, or however you want rather than selecting an entire folder. It is an optional installation which needs to be done manually, but the three steps necessary are detailed here.
Just like a lock on a door, right click disabling offers a level of protection for your images from theft. This feature is included in all template galleries for the large image viewing area. It works in recent and current versions of the most popular browsers – Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Netscape, AOL, and the new Google Chrome. Right click disable is a good deterrent for the majority of internet users, but anyone who really wants to steal an image – from any kind of online source – can pick the lock or crawl in through an open window. Watermarking images is the best protection for any online image display. With the new GenerateX templates and Adobe’s Web Photo Gallery generator, you can have both methods of protection automatically!
Photoshop CS4 is now available and all the GenerateX templates have been tested and are compatible. You will need to configure Photoshop CS4 to use the Web Photo Gallery feature since it was not included as part of the original install for CS4, but not to worry! It’s easy to do. Instructions are available HERE.
